I moved from NYC to LA in October, 2003. And though I still think NYC is the greatest city in the world, I'm truly loving life here in the City of Angels. I'm a writer, reader, and occasional picture-taker.

Plan Your Approach to Union Square

Just a quick plug for an old buddy of mine. Marc Meyers is having a screening of his newest film in Los Angeles tomorrow night. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, but I hope that at least some of you can make it out. Feel free to say Hi to Marc and tell him I sent you!

Here's the announcement and details:

In anticipation of our International Premiere at the 30th Annual Montreal World Film Festival, we hope you will come to the screening of our feature APPROACHING UNION SQUARE in Los Angeles, Wednesday, August 2nd. This screening launches NEW FILMMAKERS LA, the sister program of New Filmmakers - the long-running NY screening series.

The screening is at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre at the Barnsdall Art Park at 9PM. Address & directions below. The evening begins at 7pm with a cocktail reception and shorts program, but feel free to arrive just before the feature program. There's no need to reserve tickets ahead of time.

APPROACHING UNION SQUARE received the JURY PRIZE for BEST FEATURE FILM at the 2006 Long Island International Film Expo. After our “sneak peek” screening at the Waterfront Film Festival in June, this was our first festival screening so it's a great start for the film. Upcoming, we also have our New Filmmakers screening in NY on August 30th followed by the Montreal World Film Festival, the Breckenridge Film Festival, and several other festivals thereafter…

"Written and Directed by Marc Meyers, APPROACHING UNION SQUARE is a collage of eleven tales capturing thirty-something New Yorkers struggling to find love and connection in the big city. The characters include a psychic, sex addict, tourist, Italian immigrant, and others. They all cross paths on a New York City bus." The film is based on my original play “Love and Sex: Tales from the Trenches,” a collection of monologues that ran in Manhattan for six months in late 2001 and 2002.
