Law, Jude Law
I just want to cast my vote for Jude Law to become the next James Bond. I think he'd be perfect in the role. 'nuff said.

I think Clive Owen would be a better choice
Clive Owen has declined their offer, per a story I read on Yahoo today. Jude Law isn't brooding enough, he's too much the pretty boy.
I nominate Rupert Evertt. He's tall, suave, handsome and has that certain steely eyed thing going on. AND, he looks good in a tux.
Not brooding enough?! Did you see Gattaca? He was even brooding (though still a pretty boy) in Mr. Ripley! And he looks good in a tux too, don't he?
I'd have to go with Clive here, but if he turned it down then I'd take Jude. I mean, Bond is a pretty boy, albeit with the swagger and brass balls, but if they choose to go in a different direction, grittier, more subdued then I wouldn't be disappointed. Really, I think Jude could go either way. Guy's got some acting chops in my opinion.
I'd just like to point out, in response to our host's question, that Jude Law is ONE OF THE FINEST--

I saw Gaticca... still not impressed. He's too pretty. Bond is a handsome man.. not a pretty boy. Besides, that whole nanny thing... *shakes head* nuh uh.
He ain't THAT pretty! Look at Connery in the early days -- not that different from Jude. Besides, Rupert's even prettier than Jude -- he looks like a dandy. And if Jude's too pretty, Clive's too ugly! Not handsome at all. Of course, I'm not a female, so maybe I'm just an idiot. ;-)

Jude would never pidgeonhole himself into one continuos role, I think that is why the difficulty in filling the shoes. I just watched Layer Cake and the main guy in it is also up for the role

My wife and I have been fighting a ongoing Brothers Grimm inspired battle over who the better looking guy is, Matt or Heath.
Not really Bond related...just wanted to note that discussing who the better looking guy is can be very manly.
Bond-wise, I just think the next film should be set in the cold war. Its my opinion Bond has really floundered since the cold war ended.
